Frequently asked questions

These are the most common questions we are asked, however if you have a question not dealt with below please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to answer any further questions you may have.

Q. How old do I need to be to be able to train?
A. We run classes from 6 years to adult, and cater for all ability levels.

Q. What do I need to wear to train?
A. Tracksuit bottoms and a T-shirt are fine to start with.

Q. Are the Instructors Registered?
A. Yes all of the Instructors are CRB checked for Children’s Classes.

Q. Can Ladies Train?
A. Ladies are more than welcome to train! More details are available on our classes page.

Q. Do I need Insurance?
A. Yes, you will be required to apply for a license after a few training sessions, this license will be your insurance.

Q. I already have a belt in Ju-Jitsu from a different club not connected to South West Ju-Jitsu, can I carry on with the Plymouth Ju-Jitsu Club from my current belt?
A. You may be assessed on various techniques from our syllabus to see how different your syllabus was from Plymouth Ju-Jitsu’s.

Q. How often will I be Graded?
A. That all depends on how committed you are to training, the more you train the quicker you will grade.

Q. Are Private Sessions available?
A. Yes, private sessions are available by arrangement. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
